No lyrical mysticism here! Still a Hymn to the Night...Very direct, very refreshing, very evocative. An enchanting smile and a most pleasant voice, stirring and compelling. Patti Smith is in no competition with Novalis. Simply a valid, different interpretation of love. Yet, very similar in depth of feeling and desire...
When I first heard this song in the late 70's I was so touched by its raw beauty. This song introduced me to the marvel of Patti Smith and I purchased the album 'Easter'.
Her voice is not as strong as it used to be but she still looks good!
Ardent, being a master of forgetting song title's, let alone connecting them with artists, and having a lousy musical ear, my only criterion is: Either it pleases my ears, or not. :) As for Patti Smith - an interesting artist / personality.
:) :)

Thank you, Sean. :)
I love Patti Smith. My favourite of her songs is Dancing Barefoot
ReplyDeleteClaude,
ReplyDeleteto cut it short: if I were an autograph collector I'd certainly offer 100 Madonnas for one Smith. :)
Jams,
not only that I shan't tell the not-wife; to please you my next post will be Dancing barefoot. :)
