Homeric Morning

07:24
Eos arriving,
07:39
. . . the rosy-fingered
07:39
. . . dawn godess
07:48
. . . in her saffron-coloured robe

07:48
. . . bringing light to the mortals.

    1. It was this very morning, Susan, that almost five decades after for the first time reading the Iliad at the age of eleven I understood what Homer meant when praising the godess 'saffron robe'. Many times I have seen her rosy fingers, but never so clearly her saffron robe.

    1. Hm, could I make you feel better by confessing that I was a wee bit bragging, swaggering or whatever word it may be that I'd like to write just now? :)
