    1. Well, my memory is of no importance. Apparently.

    2. I am sure you are one of many, and things do get better, steadily if so slowly and with many reverses but more steps forward, thanks to people like her and those who remember and carry on.

    3. May you not lose your optimism, dear Andrew.

    4. More observation that optimism. When I was not much younger whole nations were imprisoned behind the "iron curtain", although the slow but relentless progress does and always will come at a terrible cost. All the atrocities of today are the desperate lashings out and wailings of mad idealogies that are steadily being exposed and defeated, I do observe. Look beyond our own painful defeats and see across the world - in the former USSR, Asia, Africa, China, and yes in Europe and the Americas... despite the ebb and flow of reverses and victories, the bigger battle is being won. (A view offered with thanks to Natalya and all the others).

    1. Dear Claude, I was born in 1955, and you a few years earlier. I do believe we will leave a better world than we arrived into, despite everything.
