Consequential

There have always innocent children been born
who became evil bastards.
In face of an expanding number of human beings
it should therefore not come as a surprise
that nowadays
there live more evil bastards on this planet.

They would be a minor problem, though.

The problems are caused by those who follow them.

  1. Many people consider that the world is getting better. I wonder if you would agree with me that things are, on the whole, not getting 'better' or indeed 'worse'. We might say that the % of "evil bastards" has remained fairly constant, with only population fluctuations increasing the scale and power of the bastardy. 'Better' or 'worse' are perspectival and as such are obtuse to proper definition.

    1. The percentage of 'evil bastards' may have remained fairly constant, their number has very probably increased, though.
It's likely that amongst seven billion individuals are more 'evil bastards" than amongst 1.5 billion, would you agree?
As for your last sentence: 100 percent d'accord.
It seems there are not many things not obtuse to proper definition, these days. :)

    2. Yes, totally agree. It's what I meant by 'population fluctuations' but sadly too obtuse myself! & much in agreement with Susan's comment. I think the Gaia hypothesis offers a solution...

I am so glad you are 'back'.

    4. Oh, and by the way: Did you happen to read Ralph Abraham's, Terence McKenna's and Rupert Sheldrake's "Trialogues at the Edge of the West"?

    5. I have not, but I shall investigate. Many thanks 😊

  2. Whether or not evil bastards exist depending upon simple arithmetic, the majority of today’s problems are due to the fact that, in general, most of the people on our badly overcrowded planet demand lifestyles that the Earth’s resources will not support for much longer. Until that changes, nothing else is going to change – and nobody has yet suggested a reasonable way for that change to happen that doesn’t involve a vast number of deaths and the decline and fall of industrial society.
