Evolution of Stupidity

Darwin’s theory of evolution has been excluded from the most recent draft of Turkey’s new national curriculum, which will be released following the Eid al-Fitr holiday, the head of the Education Ministry’s curriculum board, Alpaslan Durmuş, has said.

Durmuş told educators during an Ankara seminar on June 20 that the ministry had presented the draft to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who has approved it.

  1. Actually... people's views about what may or may not have happened in the distant past trouble me much less than their views about what should be done in the present and the future. I have a little alien friend who told me humans are wrong about most things, but she said that it doesn't matter. Nobody believes me, but it doesn't matter. Time for another beer... And to post this comment I must tick a box to declare "I am not a robot", while actually, I may be.

    1. Agreed. The more when their views about what should or should not be done in the present and the future are dependent on an indoctrinated belief in what happened or not happened in the past.

    2. I would happily not argue against their view that Darwin's book is just a silly story if they would agree to consider their own revered old books as silly stories. I do not expect that happiness soon.

  2. There are many who do recognize that we are part of larger systems and advocate for cultural change that makes this understanding a core value. Unfortunately, these people are rarely in positions of power.
