Laughing Lhursday*: Whisky galore

Whisky Galore:
The novel,
the film
and a few empty bottles.
Compton Mackenzie (17 January 1883 – 30 November 1972)

* [For first time visitors]:
Typo in the title?
Nah.
It's just that I would not let a tiny T spoil an avantgardistic alliteration.

  1. Just recently held one of the genuine bottles of Whisky in my hand from the wrecked cargo, in the 'am Politician pub on Eriskay. The filming was done on Barra. Thanks for post, made me smile.

    1. Ah yes, I stayed on Barra for a while this summer, while on a solo visit. Beer was consumed by me while looking out at the bay that was the focus of the film, but no whisky. I saw the film as a child and remember being highly amused by it. I am rather impressed by Sean's shelf - a fine contribution to the Scottish economy Sean. Much thanks.

    3. What you see, dear Andrew, is, of course, but a trickle of my contribution to the Scottish economy. One day I might show my collection. ;-)
      Book and film are hilarious.
      Sometimes I do regret not living closer to the Hebrides.
