Abolish Slavery

Today is International Day for the Abolition of Slavery.

The focus of this day is on eradicating contemporary forms of slavery, such as trafficking in persons, sexual exploitation, the worst forms of child labour, forced marriage, and the forced recruitment of children for use in armed conflict.
Today, 21 million women, men and children are trapped in slavery all over the world. The International Labour Organization (ILO) has teamed up with prominent artists, athletes and advocates in its new campaign to End Slavery Now.

  1. It's a horrible situation that continues and affects so many more besides. We can only describe as being enslaved those who don't dare to leave a job because there are no others.

    1. Quite, That's why I doubt the numbers. And when coming to think of all those victims of their education and convictions . . .

    1. Ah, I am simply not blogging, Susan.
Not that I'd lack of ideas, on the contrary; it's just that I don't feel like.
Slowly I am coming aware of what I have been doing in the past years, and that – theoretically – now I am free to do things I could not do for so many years. So many options. . . .
Of course, I am also aware of that I have become ten years older and, after all, that German is my language. So why should I continue blogging?
I think latest in March I shall have decided my next steps.
One could also call me a cunctator, eh? :)

    2. I do understand losing enthusiasm for the practice as I've struggled to keep blogging myself this past couple of years. Procrastination can be endemic if we let it. Still, even as we all have our reasons to do or not do, I couldn't help but worry when you dropped out of sight. I pictured those photographs you take when you're making long drives and it is winter after all.. Please excuse my overactive imagination.

Although German may well be your language you express yourself amazingly well in English and I wonder if you don't have a few more besides. As a North American, even as a Canadian, I have just the one.

I'm sure whatever it is you decide to spend your time doing that you'll have great success. In the meanwhile I'll be happy to stop by to visit as usual. Your posts are always very intriguing :)

    3. Ui ui ui ui. :) I think I am a master in letting 'procrastination' become endemic, Susan.
It is warming my heart, though, to learn you were worrying a bit. :)
Hm, and how encouraging the rest of your words! Thank you.
