  1. Wish I could plant my own food. That field looks wonderful.

    1. It's about the "escaped" oilseed – see Andrew's comment.

    2. Yes... I didn't think Sean regarded the field as wonderful (although I find it all a more complex issue than some, having not so long ago published an article about making plastics from plants, which sounds very sustainable to me, being a bit an eco-warrior actually, but without the sandals. Anyway... I digress... I don't think Sean likes oilseed rape monoculture at all (though it is rather dramatically pretty...as is an irridescent and shimmering oil slick caught in sparkling sunlight, of course... until a gull gets stuck in it; although birds do get killed by hawks, of course, bad hawks... and gulls kill fish anyway, the bastard gulls but I digress...

    3. I do repeat:
      Well wrtiten.
And which of you words does defend the bastards of Monsanto?

    4. I thought the field was food......Just to show how much I understand of cryptic posts, with abbreviated letters.

    5. You understood the post well. It is about food.
Well, and about (the) bastards (of Monsanto). :).

    6. I'm walking on Toronto streets with many people, pointing fingers towards those criminals. Very public....And we're very angry...

    7. I know.
See, this post was one for the Andrews on this planet. :)

  2. Yes, it's difficult to grow your own on an apartment balcony.

    1. Neither it's on your ground. Certainly, growing fruits, vegetables etc. does not save you a cent, these days.
I do know / taste the difference, though.

    1. :) Andrew got it. It's about the bastards he is describing with "M".

  4. I am not sure what the "Q.E.D" point is (I can think of conflicting possibilities) but that does look to me like an escaped oilseed rape plant rather than a "little weed" (although of course there is no such things as "a weed", just a plant that someone says is in the wrong place. Anyway... I've seen a few such escapees on roadsides around here too.

    1. You got it. :)
It's a post about "escaping seeds" and fine ladies and gentlemen . . err: the bastards of Monsanto!
No stern admonishment, though, as recently suspected.

  5. Mine's was not a comment on The M- Word", by the way.

    1. M-word? M for Magic, marvellous, miraculous . . . ?
Or was you "M" a substitute for the bastards for Monsanto?

  6. M for Mon...

No... I dare not say it.

Although, despite having a totally fertiliser-free and pesticide-free garden front and back, and GMO-free too so far as I know, and with a wild riverbank full of snails and toads and a river of eels and fish and mink and a rarely mown lawn etc. and etc all lovely and wildlifeay, I do... oh here it comes Father, forgive me,.. but I do apply N-(phosphonomethyl)glycine to my driveway. There, I said it... but the generic version not the M... word version (which is too expensive for the same molecule after all), and it is soon food for microbes you know... and anyway, I have a PhD in chemistry so it is my job to intefere with Nature... but then I AM a part of Nature... so anything I do is completely "natural" by undeniable definition. I am an organic chemist in the wild and deserve to be preserved. QED?

    2. None of them do. It's not an issue I addressed, although I do have one or two acquaintances who are among those "bastards", and while abhoring corporate illegality in any form, or firm, I do see many shades from white to grey and black where others on opposite sides see only white and black, although each completely oppositely, strangely enough. Indeed... Enough...

    3. Now, that easy, Andrew, hm? Enough! Haha: Enough!!
"It's not an issue I addressed,"?
      What about addressing the issue?

    4. That would take a lot more thought and reflection than I currently have room and time for in my head. Seriously. But I am rather strongly anti-GM food crops myself, generally, and anti-reckless chemistry (apart from in my own back yard, well front driveway, but lightly, of course), and I do know that many a natural and totally undulterated crops, like bananas, are plentiful in known and natural carcinogens (as are all of us... dosage is the issue, for as Shakespeare nearly said, nothing is good or bad until we know the dose, ... and oxygen... damn oxygen! is POISON. It kills us (but sustains us). Life is complicated.

    5. I think here I ought to tell that soon I shall have to let myself fall into the feathers. :) Not before trying, though,to assure you of that I (think I) am not as ignorant and stupid and arrogant as not seldom I might "sound". See, I (think I) do see your point(s), Each a valid one. And still, . . .
