Hi Sean, I enjoyed this rendition but assumed erroneously firstly it was in French and not Italian as I think it is since Milva is Italian. Should have known better listening to those rrr's being rolled Even pulled out my Piaf songbook at first to check it out. She is probably a better singer than Piaf although I prefer it sung in French. Originally it was in English bit the 1959 French rendition "Milord" by Edith Piaf was a crowd stopper. Best wishes
Glad you enjoyed, Lindsay. Milva's a very impressive interpreter both of Brecht/Weill songs and songs of Mikis Theodorakis. I would none of the ladies call better than the other. Both are unique in their own way. And here's for you Édith Piaf.

In my old age, my favourite Edith Piaf is "Je ne regrette rien."
ReplyDeleteIf I remember correctly, it was my favourite when I was 19 or 20. :)
