I do thank you, Andrew! And Claude. She mentioned on Thursday that in her early 20s she "danced in Montreal discos where Oscar Peterson was just starting his fabulous career".
Claude dancing... I would love to have seen that, and maybe to have danced with her with my head up in the rafters relative her hers :) A shame when time separates people so, but it is the way.
Oscar P. is so good here I had to come back this evening and listen again. I can just imagine young Oscar looking out at the Montreal club clientele and thinking "Is that little lass over there old enough to be in here tonight?) :)
He started in those discos at a much younger age than when I went dancing with a group of music students. At 14, he had won the CBC National Music Competition and, from then on,dropped from school to play everywhere, mixing classical, jazz and boogie-woogie. It was well known that he was practicing 6 hours a day. We all wanted to play like him but without the practice, of course.
Wonderful and topical. Thankyou.

DeleteTonight your wish will be fulfilled, Andrew.
DeleteOh, and after the third dance I shall cut in. ;-)
Dear, dear friends! Tears rolling down my cheeks....
ReplyDeleteAnd look at those magical hands on the piano!
In special moments, like NOW, time and distance do not truly separate people.
Merci de tout coeur for this marvelous dancing interlude.
I hope your toes have recovered dear Lady Claude. I am a clumsy dancer. Sean was much more light-footed, I believe.
DeleteAch, my peripheral vision might miss a windmill, my feet, though, I fear, whilst dancing not the tiniest foot.
DeleteThe music was sublime...
DeleteThank you for inviting me

DeleteOur pleasure, Claude. What sublime music did they play. I ask, because I had to concentrate fully on not treading on your toes. :)
ReplyDeleteA bit of Herb Alpert, Sean. Another favorite musician!
DeleteMy toes did not suffer at all.
Got the message, Claude, and changed my plans for tomorrow's Saturday Night Music. ;-)
