I feel reminded of Jonathan Swift's Modest Proposal; and of the fleeing Vietnamese woman being told before entering a boat with her baby on one arm and a young sow on the other that each refugee was allowed to take but one item with them. "I opted for the pig, because I thought once I'd have survived I could have another baby."
      Satire being surpassed by reality.
