Beers & Books CLXXIV – Peig Sayers

“If curses came from the heart,
it would be a sin.
But if it is from the lips they come,
and we use them only
to give force to our speech,
they are a great relief to the heart.”

Peig Sayers (1873 – 8 December 1958)

  1. Well thank fuck for that then... (Oh... and if they come from the keyboard?)

  2. Wise words. Sometimes we may blurt things out but don't truly mean it.

    1. Ah, I have the opposite problem Mark, as I suspect many of us have, and with much more than curses, namely that I blurt things out that I really mean, but would have been better keeping silent.

    2. And then there are those who, unlike Andrew do not wear their heart on their tongue, do "swallow" everything.
A kingdom for the right mixture!
