So much four years after to Route 66 I would have liked cheerfully to welcome him to "Club 70", today.
But alas! Andrew, my friend, has died.
In 2008 stumbling upon eachother in the blogosphere, Don QuiScottie (not Don Quijote) and
Seanso (not Sancho Panza) became friends (not only) on their diverse "windmillish" quests to
impress his Dulcinea / Margaret. ;-)
Ha! And what fun it would be if they were both still alive, Claude Prescott and Andrew Scott, now that the new Pope is a Prescott ;-)))
Deep believer Claude here, bantering Andrew and me there.
Together with Jams, my very special friend I consider(ed) us a four-leaf clover.
It's like Andrew wrote to me as a dedication in one of his books in 2017:
Sic!!
I might (soon) end blogging,
but before moving to my last dwelling six feet under
I do thank for such wonderful friends.
And thus, at least for now, I do end with Andrew's poem for me:
Thank you, my friend.
Whilst you might be celebrating with Claude and Jams tonight, accompanied by a pint of Guinness and a wee dram of Talisker, I shall be smiling a lot, whilst revisiting certain comment sections.
Sláinte!
My condolences for your loss. Some of my blogging and other online friends are among my best friends and it's very hard to lose them.
ReplyDeleteMillions of ‘followers’ cannot become friends. That's why I've always kept my blogroll short. I prefer to concentrate on just a few people. It hurts all the more to lose one.
DeleteI was saddened when you sent me the news. Andrew had become dear to me, as so many bloggers (you included) have done.
ReplyDeleteI do hope that you will not leave the blogosphere soon but accept (reluctantly) that it is your decision.
S
As mentioned above, I don't have the desire for billions of followers ;-)
DeleteIt was Andrew's blog where I got intrigued in a certain "Elephant's Child" and "Pipistrello", and so the circle closes.
As for your hope, Sue: It is simply the contempt for so many protagonists who are currently dominating the headlines worldwide and for whom the lives and deaths of others, who only want to live in peace, completely "pass them by" that makes me lose the joy of blogging.
Sometimes I wish the Grim Reaper (Andrews "Great Healer") would take the decision away from me.
But then: I'd miss my blogger friends. ;-)
Un bonic homenatge al teus companys d'innumerables i gloriosos instants. Aquest racó ens pot unir amb persones que d'altra manera no podríem conèixer i, això mentre es pugui, no s'hauria de perdre mai.
ReplyDeleteD.E.P. 🌹
My living blogger friends would of course also deserve a homage, Paula. ;-)
DeleteHi Sean – oh how very sad … we do know blogging friends through our ongoing connections and how that relationship is portrayed with our words and concepts, of which you both have/had plenty, – I feel for you … with thoughts …
ReplyDeleteCertainly a blue day dear Sean … too many skip past us to meet the Grim Reaper far too early – yet we all have 'our time' ahead. 'Ohhh – with one swipe of his clean sharp scythe' – he remains with us … The Bubble of Now.
I hope you don't swipe the blog away, and stay blogging a while longer – as and when you feel inspired to post.
Lovely post for today … for Andrew, for Jams and for you – from a very delightful sunny green Eastbourne – cheers Hilary
;-)
DeleteMay 'our time' ahead take its time, Hilary.
I might consider then to not swipe Omnium away.
Feel yourself hugged.
I am so sorry to hear this sad news about Andrew.
ReplyDeleteJams, Claude and now Andrew. All special people that I met through blogging.
You too of course are special. I miss the exchanges we had together all those years ago.
By now you and I are the last of that former little "community", eh? The question is: Are we privileged? ;-)
DeleteDear Sean, Andrew's last blog posts can be read with new eyes and greater understanding in the light of what happened last year - he was seeming to be very philosphical about his dwindling time on this planet. Thank you for remembering him on his birthday. Good friends to find are oftentimes slim on the ground, but once found never leave us.
ReplyDeleteAh, "The Wash" got published in 2018. Andrew to me seems to have been always both scientist and philosopher, thus a scientific philosopher.
DeleteAnd yes: I am glad having met you via Andrew, my friend.
Als blogs, jo també he fet molts bon amics i amigues, alguns els he conegut personalment i d'altres només virtualment. Desgraciadament també alguns d'ells ens han deixat. Fa molta pena.
ReplyDeleteT'acompanyo en aquest sentiment de pèrdua que sents.
Una abraçada, Sean.
I read your blog is celebrating its 18th birthday today. So 13 May is not such a bad day in general. ;-)
DeleteAbraçades, Carme.
