Sometimes words do not come easy to me. Today is one of those days.
As
long as dementia does not overtake me, I will not forget today's
birthday of mine. Because at 3.00 am (12:00 in Canberra), a service was
held for Sue.
Arundhati Roy once wrote about the ‘god of small things’. Sue had an eye for ‘small things’ – in her garden, out and about in her beloved Canberra, close to ‘her’ kangaroos, etc. ...
An admirable woman, intelligent, humorous, warm-hearted, down-to-earth, not a chatterbox.
A woman who would listen to people in need and try to show desperate seekers a way ... Out of the Shadows into the Light.
Glad and thankful I once stumbled’ across her on my friend Andrew's blog, I shall remember Sue as a wonderful human being.

... And I like the idea of her revelling among flowers, cats, kangaroos, and smiling at us. ;-)
Oh that is so sad. Thanks for dignifying her. She exuded happiness and verve and I shall remember her thus.
ReplyDeleteThat's a fine way to remember her, dear Mark. Thank you.
Molts d'anys!
Un petó dolç per a ella i un altre per a tu.
Now, those are lovely words. Thank you very much!
DeleteAferradetes, Paula.
Hi Sean - a very fitting tribute to the blogger, who was a friend to many of us, and to her family and friends ... she had compassion to the fore and first for all. Thanks for this ... memories as you say will not go away ... she'll be around for many a time ahead ... cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteSue was a very special person in many ways. I did often admire her. And I still do.
DeleteAs I wrote above: I like the idea of her revelling among flowers, cats, kangaroos, and smiling at us – without any pain.
Ah, how lovely to get three times hugged by you, Carme. ;-)
DeleteThank you very much.
Over the course of 18 years, I have learned how deep friendships can develop virtually.
Superficially following 500 blogs just for the sake of ‘clicks’ was never my thing. All the sadder, then, to lose a good friend.
T'acompanyo amb una abraçada, amic .
ReplyDeleteGràcies, amic. You are very kind.
DeleteAll of us will miss Sue so much. Her funeral was during our daughter's wedding reception, so I couldn't watch.
ReplyDeleteAh, congratulations and all the best to "Little Girl" and Gary.
DeleteWonderful proof of how close death and life are to each other. Who knew that better than Sue.
The ‘livestream’ is still available, by the way.
