Felicitous jubilee

Nothing much to be written. Today's the 200th birthday of Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy who died early, whose music, though, is still alive.

Enjoy the 13 year old Itzhak Perlman performing the Violine Concerto ...

... and the 17 year old Felix' Midsummer Night's Dream

  1. The second You Tube is Mendelssohn's Italian Symphony. And a strange rendering it is: the wind instrument parts are played on an organ!

  2. My favourite violin concerto with my favourite violinist. Thanks for this reminder and treat.

  3. Wooaaah, Bertus,
Seems I've been sitting on my eyes, embedding the wrong one after I had uploaded quite a few videos. Midsummernight Madness in can't have been, anyway. Will try to find the 'Dream', soon.
An organ? Praised be you ears. :)

    jmb,
glad you enjoyed listening to little Itzhak.
