Science + Literature = i

"In the world there are various categories of scientists:
there are people of a secondary or tertiary standing;
there are also those of high standing
who make discoveries of great importance to science;
then there are geniuses like Galileo and Newton.
Well, Ettore was one of them."
Enrico Fermi

  1. A couple of weeks ago I read a fascinating article about the Russian mathematician Grigori Perelman who solved a previously insoluble problem presented in 1904. After providing proofs he refused all awards and returned to Russia where he's been incommunicado ever since. On occasion it seems there are a few who prefer to step away.
