More snow

More snow ...

... to shovel.

Well, after breakfast.

  1. More than 12 inches here and it just keeps coming, and in my fragile state I ventured out in the dark, at 2230 to clear the overhanging snow from the roof with a pole to prevent the gutters giving way. My Lady said "be careful". Predictably I eventually fell face down and horizontal and just could not get up! I slowly crawled toward the lounge window to bang on it for the good lady to assist, taking about five freezing minutes to do so, but on reaching that target I realised I could just about manage to use leverage on the window sill to haul myself upright. I dusted myself down, another five minutes as I looked like a walking snowman, the plodded carefully back inside, and delivered a calm "Job done" to Lady Dulcinea Margaret. I think she was impressed. Time for a beer.

    1. PS I was not ON the roof! Just walking around on the ground with a long plastic pole.

    2. After enthusiastically reporting at the breakfast table the valiant white Don's latest quest waiting for endless Ahs and Ohs, instead I heard: 'All these things are certainly to be done on the second night after return from hospital.'

    3. The smiting of snow and all other obstacles and enemies cannot stop just because a noble Don is not quite his best, for even at his worst he can surely still valiantly Smite for Scotland and to keep Dulcinea's castle maintained?

    4. Why would I be pretty sure that, in case I read this aloud at tomorrow's breakfast table, I'd hear: 'Congratulations! First progress.' And if, puzzled, I'd ask 'What are you refering to?' the answer would be: 'To the question mark!!'
And if then I asked 'Why would I hear two exclamation marks? – "One is replacing the questionmark behind DonQuiSilly!'

    5. Oh... I was actually thinking it was good to hear that someone agreed with me that "these things are certainly to be done on the second night after return from hospital".

    6. That was what you were thinking.
And what are you thinking now?

    7. I am thinking that Germanic sarcasm might have been being despatched westwards towards me. Surely not?

  3. It has only just started to snow properly where I am. I suspect it will be thawed by mid morning!

  4. Hick! We seemed to have got off lightly in Lincoln, as we very often do. Just a blanket covering though it's very cold, hasn't been over 3° for about a week and as low as -7°!

    1. That does indeed seem relatively mild. ;-)
But with -13°C last night we were still quite lucky. 50 kilometres south the thermometers showed -27°C.
