As a self confessed Musaholic and the Cello being my favourite instrument, I listened to this piece with great interest. Shamefully I've never heard of the Composer but what quality, the sad and mournful sound of the Cello is exemplified here, as well as the odd bit of gymnastics! Quite tuneful as well.
If you like the Cello you might appreciate the last movement of Shostakovich's 15th symphony, Schnitke's Cello concerto is also poignant as well as fluid. Thanks for post.
Both pieces you recommended I enjoyed, thank you. And interesting, only recently I had listened to both Schnittke's "Declaration of Love" and "Seid nüchtern und wachet". I do also like the Cello, especially when it's played by Pablo Casals, Jacqueline du Pré and (nowadays) Stjépan Hauser.
How he would have marvelled to know that his work would/would be heard for so long after his death...
