Beers & Books CLXXXVI – Leonardo Sciascia

The truth is at the bottom of a well.
You look in a well,
and you see the sun or the moon,
but if you jump in,
there's no longer the sun or the moon;
there's the truth.

Leonardo Sciascia (8 January 1921 – 20 November 1989)

  1. Oh wow, such a bitter quote, but it's true I guess.

    1. Welcome to Omnium, Astrid.
      I see no bitterness; just realism, presented with subtle humour. Sciascia was very good at that.

  3. So many books. You must read quick - yet you seem to take it all in. Do you sleep?

    1. To start with the end: I do sleep. A lot. Since being back from four months reading and writing in Spain, furthermore I do my best not to miss "my" Siesta. And I am a slow reader. Word by word. I don't, f.e., do TV, though. My greatest advantage, of course, is that I got time to read in two millennia. ;-)
