You would meet a great writer, Sue. "La larga marcha" (The long march) is the first volume of his excellent Spain trilogy. Not sure, but I think "Crematorio", has been translated into English; a brilliant analysis of Spain and the wild capitalism of our time, a sensational success in 2007 and 2011 made into a TV series. Perhaps you should start with this book: a fascinating read.
The first volume is set during the dictatorship, the second on the very day Franco died. And that was worth an Estrellas to me ;-) Re "Crematorio": As I wrote in yesterday's reply on your comment, it offers a brilliant analysis of Spain and the wild capitalism of our time. Thus, yes, I do highly recommend it, but I don't prefer it to the trilogy, which is also extraordinarily well written.
Another writer I do not know.

That's not San Miguel in the glass is it?
ReplyDeleteWell spotted, Mark. ;-)
DeleteIn this case, the can is just a prop, as when I took this series of photos, I didn't have any Spanish beer at home.
Ha desaparegut l'Estrella?... bé, encara et queda la San Miguel ;-)
ReplyDeleteEns recomanes més "Crematorio" abans que els altres?
Aferradetes, Sean.
