"I think technique can be taught
but I think the only way to learn to write is to read,
and I see writing and reading as completely related.
One almost couldn't exist without the other."
[John McGahern, who would today celebrate his 91. birthday.]

| Sláinte, John! |

Tampoc sé veure una cosa sense l'altra.
ReplyDeleteSembla que els tinguis tots! ;-)
Aferradetes, Sean!
Well, at least quite a few, Paula. ;-)
DeleteAferradetes!
Hi Sean - he was obviously very talented, yet had that dark 'interior' ... while developing his career he went back to his mother's roots and farmed. Interesting - thanks for introducing him to us/me - cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteYou are very welcome, Hilary.
Ho havia llegit malament. Millor m'afegeixo al teu títol: Adéu, John! Fins sempre!
Una abraçada, Sean!
You are very thoughtful and kind, Carme.
DeleteAnd lovely! ;-)
I see John smiling his smile. By no means he would feel offended. On the contrary.
Abraçades!
Comparteixo la cita !... la lectura t'obre moltes portes i també la ment.
ReplyDeleteBona setmana !.
Ach, open minds! Wish there were more.
DeleteWe are the minority, Artur. ;-)
Bona setmana!
Nice presentation. Were/ are you a stamp collector?
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mark. No, I have always considered stamp collecting boring. Why do you ask? ;-)
DeleteI collected stamps as a child and always mounted them in the album with a pleasant kind of neatness. I don't know why it appealed to me but it was a window to the world.
DeleteAh, yes! My father was a collector. Including first-day covers and all that. ;-) I found books, football, judo, and athletics more interesting.
DeleteBuenas tardes compañero, paso a agradecer tus palabras, ya regresando poco a poco a los avatares del blog. Gracias por estar ahí, un fuerte abrazo
ReplyDeleteAh, Nuria, good to see you again. Wishing you a continued speedy recovery.
DeleteUn fuerte abrazo.
