    1. Voilà. Hærværk is the story of a Danish journalist who is driven to self-destruction by drinking himself to death. Apart from its presumed autobiographical character, it probably reflects the intellectual, political and personal crises of many writers and artists between the World Wars. The book is considered one of the best literary Danish-language depictions of alcoholism.

  3. Hi Sean - how sad ... I know lots of people 'get down' after the effects of war - my father for one ... so difficult. What a challenging book to read ... and yes knowing friends in similar states - an important book to read for those with an interest. Thank you for reminding us that people do chart their own crises. Hilary
