Kader Arif, the European Parliament's rapporteur for the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (Acta), resigned over the issue on Friday (January 27th).
He said he had witnessed "never-before-seen manoeuvres" by officials preparing the treaty.
More at the BBC.
And here the quintessence of what Monsieur Arif said, in English, French, German, Swedish.
The peace of the night.
Hear hear!
ReplyDeletePersonally I think they should ban the internet, That will stop those pirates!
ReplyDeleteI always agree with Jams!
ReplyDeleteThe wv is sucks (believe it or not)
One wrong thing cannot be undone with another wrong thing. I fully support any regulation to stop online piracy, yet i hate to see some politicians trying to take advantage of this weakness and try to control the public opinion.
ReplyDeleteHaving said that, the news story doesn't actually cover the kind of censorship ACTA wants to implement.
The wordings of the act will stop freedom of speech and it will be another control.
ReplyDeleteIt needs to be worded differently if the aim is to stop piracy.
