I'm listening slowly, a little bit at a time. I don't know where this young woman, and the orchestra, find the energy to play such difficult, powerful music without stopping for a sip of tea (or brandy) between movements. If I would write a concerto, it would be part of the manuscript that everyone playing or listening be served a fortifying drink after an exhausting exposition. And a box of tissue. Of course, I delude myself that some people would still be awake after 5 minutes of my disastrous creation.
This presentation is sumptuous, Sean. But it does prove that my days of Live Music are over. Thanks the Heavens that You Tube now exists, and that someone like you takes time to find the gems, and to offer them. Merci du fond du coeur!
As someone who did not learn to play an instrument I do admire the skills. As a (former) sportsman I do admire the stamina. And my ears do admire what they hear. Well ... and my eyes like to read your comment(s).
