It would be nice if many of the 'movers and shakers' of the world could try adopting a significantly different procedure for next year; but I have little hope of that.
As for the other thing, Naomi Kline in her book This Changes Everything pointed out:
“We are stuck because the actions that would give us the best chance of averting catastrophe — and would benefit the vast majority — are extremely threatening to an elite minority that has a stranglehold over our economy, our political process, and most of our major media outlets.”
Naomi Klein's analysis sounds convincing. Unfortunately she does not offer ways to overcome such structures in a peaceful manner, and therefore is no threat for what she calls 'an elite minority'. Which is why "She Changes Nothing".
