Seán O`Faolain is one of the so-called great three Os amongst Irish short story writers. The other two are Liam O`Flaherty and Frank O'Connor. Each of them fascinating. As for "The Short Story". This book is acknowledged as an important critical work, and also as one of the most sensitive studies of the creative process ever written. Unfortunately it is sloppily bound and threatens to fall out of glue every time I turn a page. Burro / Ruc and I do consider it a gem and treat it therefore like a raw egg.
