Fireface |
- Some say the world will end in fire,
- Some say in ice.
- From what I’ve tasted of desire
- I hold with those who favour fire.
- But if it had to perish twice,
- I think I know enough of hate
- To know that for destruction ice
- Is also great
- And would suffice.
Beautiful but frightening sky!
ReplyDeleteOne of the first English poems I understood completely when I was learning the language by immersion in my mid-thirties. I had it on my walls for years. Then I decided that the world will end with non-caring one way or another. People will simply have no feeling of love or hate. Just drowning in a sea of inept, imbecilic TV viewing.
Ah, what a beautiful but frightening decision!

It's a beautiful image, almost like a curtain being pulled back on some celestial stage.
ReplyDeleteWe inhabit that space between extremes.
Thank you, Susan. The photo was taken seconds before entering a supermarket. When ten minutes later returning to the car it was raining.
DeleteSo much for extremes. :)
A sky of two halves... keeping us guessing ;-)
ReplyDeleteAh, now you mention it, CherryPie. An interesting thought! :)
