I have not found a translation for "ruquet". But anyway, kisses back, Paula / No he trobat cap traducció per a "ruquet". Però de totes maneres, els petons, Paula
Ha ha, thank you, Paula. Yes, el ruquet loves and takes any risk to climb and enjoy the highest peaks of literature. ;-) Ha ha, gràcies, Paula. Sí, el ruquet estima i s'arrisca a escalar i gaudir dels cims més alts de la literatura.
Same with me, Mimi. However, reading David Copperfield, Nick Nickleby, Oliver Twist and Hard Times as a boy I do remember as exciting; perhaps even a little character-defining.
Dickens at his most accessible I think. Can understand EC comment though. Almost a contempary of Jane Austen yet her works are a bit flowery whereas Dickens is all muck and nettles... and gutter and grinding poverty! But he was a reformer. I'm currently on Hard Times for the 8th time!!! Don't read that EC 🤣
Phew, eight (Hard) times! Then you should give "Counterparts" a chance; 14 pages of Joyce's "Dubliners". I've never yet managed to read it to others without tears running down my cheeks at the end.
Bona lectura per a temps d'oci.
ReplyDeleteCompte que el ruquet sembla que està molt empinat.😅
Petonets, Sean.

I have never warmed to Dickens.
ReplyDeleteComprehensible. But some stories and aspects are simply great.
DeleteHis Christmas stories are my favorites of his works. The rest, well, we're acquainted but little more.
