Just grasp by intuition
Nichi-nichi kore kōjitsu.
Every day is a good day.
Sounds nice, eh?
Wise even, hm?
Oh, and it's Zen!
Now that's gorgeous, isn't it? So inspiring, these old masters, no?!
Fine!
And now:
Go and tell that the child misused in this very minute.
Go and tell that the man tortured in this very moment.
Go and tell that the woman being raped in this very second.
Go and tell . . .
Come on, don't hesitate.
. . .
Pardon? . . . Ah, of course, to these persons in their very special situation this statement may appear contradictory to rationality but certainly they'll be able to grasp it through intuition on the peak of delight while being misused, tortured, raped.
The peace of the night.

Aristotle's Wisdom*
Recently, CherryPie as her Thought of the Week posted what is said to be a quote of Aristotle (384-322 BCE), i.e Happiness depends upon ourselves, and all commenters seemed to be delighted.
Which is why I wrote:
Which is why I wrote:
"Happiness depends upon yourself", laughed the rapist, and setting fire he added, "and upon your connection with your maker, ha ha ha ..."
Does everyone think, the victim of such a bastard would consider Aristotle a wise man?
Discuss, if there is anything to discuss.
* The title could also have been ... Aristotle's Wisdom and Kant's Advice or Have courage to use your own reason.

Swarming stupidity
Typing swarm intelligence after 0,13 seconds I got told there are 1,570.000 entries.
Afterwards, I hesitated to type swarm idiocy.

The Taoiseach's New Clothes III
Once I don't do 'things' immediately, they would often vanish in the realm of oblivion.
That's why I am thankful to the very inner voice whispering: Carpe noctem.
Be it then: Some - do I need say?: very personal - thoughts before the chapter picture- respectively cowengate is going to get closed.
And some last words before diving in media res: I've been following with interest (and often chucking) what has been posted about this 'issue'. By the following, which I shall be writing 'without filtres', thus as the thoughts come, I do not intend to attack anybody.
A 'clever' chap (I promised to come back to this point) unasked nails some caricatures to some museum walls, and ...
... nothing happens.
So, after a while, the 'clever chap' - did anyone notice I did not call him 'artist'? - emails a newspaper.
[Comment: It would not make much sense to hit a nail into the wall of any museum's toilet, as long as noone takes notice, hm?]
Well, and what happens afterwards, meanwhile everybody (at least in the blogosphere) should / could know.
Thus, end of the beforegoing.
De gustibus not est disputandum.
Quite. Either you have it, or you have it not.
So, why would I publish caricatures of a naked Taoiseach?
Ladies, gentlemen, this is not about a "clever chap" trying to advertise his 'artwork'/name; this is about freedom of speech / music / arts / satire ...
... and - last not least - freedom from censorship!!
Yes, again, I am writing this 'without filtres', without caring about 'wrong' syntax, 'wrong' prepositions, 'wrong' idioms.
Satire is satire is satire.
Imagine all the flags burning if this were, f.e. about a naked Mohammed or any of the very genleman's afficionados.
Conclusion:
Ha, ...
... what a great fun to show a Taoiseach without clothes;
... what a fun to attack the 'fucking bastards' elected by a majority of most intelligent voters;
... what a fun we (bloggers) had while ...
... approximately 280,000 children died of starvation.
Oops. Did I spoil the fun? Sorry. Am I a fucking kill-joy? Forgive me.
After all, who cares, hm?
We - the great champions of the blogosphere had a splendid time, hadn't we?
Exactly the fun, Heinrich Heine once defined:
Der Knecht singt gerne Freiheitslieder
des Abends in der Schenke.
The peasant loves to sing songs of freedom (rebel-songs)
in the pub at night.
- - -
I am proud of myself ... as I knew before that I'd not be able to express my thoughts (in English).
So, please, forgive me and head on to read the very best post on this very topic.
The peace of the night.

Physiognomy of fine gentlemen
Following what some Irish would call picturegate, this afternoon a thought crossed my mind: This could become Usmanov-esque dimensions*.
Could have something to do with physiognomy.
Judge yourself.
Amazing, hm?

Cricketers of the World, be very scared
Posting an article according to which the mayor of the Turkish city of Batman is suing producer/director Christopher Nolan and Warner Bros. for royalties from the film The Dark Knight, Jams O'Donnell Esq. yesterday morning finally stated: "I have no idea if this is a spoof or not but I do love a bit of frivolous litigation!"
About three hours later, I was able to resolve all his doubts: 'When even one of the most honourable and trustworthy newspapers on this planet, and thus in this galaxy and all those galaxies still to discover - i.e. Hurriyet - would sacrifice space for the Dark Mayor's accusations, now, then it must be true, Jams, hm?'
So far, so ... so ... well, let's call it bizarre.
Not bizarre is when some bad men would get off forbidding any son of Batman now living in Germany (or elsewhere!) to name his restaurant 'Batman'.
I wonder when they will bring in an action for injunction against all Cricket Clubs on this planet.
Ah, may they choke from their arrogance and acquisitiveness!
Won't happen?
Oh well, then may Spiderman punish them!
Ceterum censeo it's time that the Turks get what they need: Atapluckism.

Maniacs won't die off
Prologue:
The title does not refer to Messrs. Ahamadinejahd, Berlusconi, Brzezinski, Bush, Cheney, Gadaffi, Hu, McCain, Mugabe, Obama, Pofalla, Putin, any scalpers, masters of Monsanto & Co., members of any sect, secret and/or surveillance service etc. etc..
However, in case any person mentioned above feels fancy to feel addressed by the title: Very welcome.
And in case anybody misses her/his name and/or the name of her/his organisation: Just let me know, and your name will immediately be added.
End of the beforegoing.
Actually, the title does nothing but mirror the dominating thought while I was reading this article.

Pope converts to Moneytheism
A row has broken out in Rome about whether the speeches and writings of Pope Benedict should be freely available to everyone or subject to copyright.
The dispute was prompted by revelations that a publishing house in Milan had to pay £10,000 to reprint 30 lines from the first speech by the Pope following his election in April, after the Vatican transferred copyright on papal texts to its own publishing house, Libreria Editrice Vaticana. The Vatican also plans to charge rights on any papal texts of the past 50 years.
Full story here.
Hear hear! Even His Oddity seems to have come to the conclusion that it's moneytheism which keeps the world together in its innermost.
No applause from the wrong side, please. Anybody calling his religion, his worldview the 'one and only' is - with all respect - an idiot.
Yes, yes. There's a difference.
Thus, all idiots in the classical sense, come on and sue me!
Does it help (me) that I am laughing at them? That I am fed up? So damn fed up. With all those opportunists, who'd call themselves pragmatists.
Whatever politician/bishop I asked 'what's the difference between opportunism and pragmatism' smiled, raised his/her brows, but would not (try an) answer. In 30 years!
Back to 'Moneytheism':
I am exaggerating? What's about this?
SAN GIOVANNI ROTONDO, Italy - The exhumed body of Padre Pio, a saint considered a miracle worker by his devotees, attracted thousands of pilgrims on Thursday when it went on display 40 years after his death.Ah, the older I get, the less time I do have to be diplomatic. No one needs to believe in a god. It's just enough to be good*. To be kind to your neighbours, to the 'strangers/foreigners you meet and to those you love. That's all**.
Full article here.
* Sometimes it is difficult to be good.
** I repeat: That's all.

China feels insulted ha ha ha
China Tuesday criticized a British newspaper's report that linked the Beijing Olympics with the Berlin Games of 1936, saying the story is an insult to Chinese citizens and to the people of the world.
Well, Tetrapilotomos and I, both people of the world, would not feel insulted, at all; due last not least to following old saying:
Those who feel insulted by others,
confess to their mental inferiority.
It's, by the way, a Chinese saying.

It's, by the way, a Chinese saying.

A journalistic Hiroshima
What is another's accident, is the other's catastrophe.
No problem with this.
No problems either when people who would not care about (catch-)words, do call an accident 'catastrophe'.
Let alone they have not been taught/told: Very often such 'uneducated' persons are wiser than those who think they got the best education one could get under the sun.
But when journalists who - in my (in this case not) humble opinion - should know better, do call an explosion the Albanian Hiroshima and an Apocalyptic tragedy, they should give up their profession.
Mind: Those who lost beloved, may call what happened whatever comes to their mind. But journalists who would dare to write such rubbish are poor idiots*.
* not in the classical sense. May any idiot sue me. It will be my pleasure.
And be sure, I could give you thousands of examples for (embedded*) idiocy.
But please don't ask me to give them.. I am tired. Really tired.
On the other hand: As long as millions of those who are allowed to vote - come on, here's a chance to severely attack me :))) -, would spoil money to buy such excellent papers / to watch such super mega TV-channels, it's a market, would you agree?
* here I am not refering to those journalists who'd go in bed with the 'devil' for what they - or rather their masters call a good story, but to something general: education.
Ah, another trap I digged for myself. Okay: education is a 'hot field'. Who would set the canon? What if the pupil does not wish to listen to the teacher(s); to the parents (who may have had good or bad teachers)? Who defines what's a bad teacher?
Should teachers teach what has been thought, or should they teach inspire thinking?
Rhetoric question. Yes. Sorry about such a simplicity.
Anybody who thinks s(h)e has a simple / the one and only answer to the problem: Very welcome!

Of Vice and Men
Please keep in mind the four links offered in three posts , January 10th:
The Pig Monopoly (Monsanto), Wheat / Soya Rise, Seeds of Destruction, Doomsday Seed Vault in the Arctic, and those tiny four words 'definively to be continued'.
Thank you. :)
Well then:
Since as a boy I read John Steinbeck's Grapes of Wrath, my blood is boiling whenever I think of racketeers throwing fruits into the ocean 'to keep prices stable'.
Hm, how to cut it short?
Ah, stable is a lovely catchword. It brings me not to fruits but to livestock, and thus to one of Postman Patel's recent posts.
Enjoy, ... if you can.

Clean your brain, bookseller
Spake Tetrapilotomos:
"Can't understand this. In my bookshelf the Satanic Verses are peacefully embraced by Bible and Koran, and there is no trouble at all. A very touching picture."
Asked I:
And what is it you can't understand?
Spake Tetrapilotomos:
Anyone who would not know that selling books implicates touching books.
Said I:
Sounds paradoxical, indeed.
Spake Tetrapilotomos:
Although it's logic.
Said I:
And the moral of the story?
Spake Tetrapilotomos:
Daily washing doesn't guarantee clean brains.

Knowledge is power.
The President of the United States is (said to be) the most powerful human being on this planet.
George Walker Bush gained his knowledge in Texas.
This explains a lot.

Mens insana . . .
World is small.
Coincidences are great.
1. I do highly recommend to read this. The background arcticles are worth reading, too.
2. James Higham who happened to find a link to this very article on another blogger's site (sorry for not memorising it), left a comment roughly saying he'd need to learn more about the issue and - voilà, today delivered interesting thoughts.
3. I am a little tired (not only) these days talking about religion, fanatism, stupidity etc.
But I shall not withhold following short "dialogue":
Spake Tetrapilotomos: "I think to understand it is enough to read the 23rd paragraph."
?
"Just read and get close to the essential inheritent interior essence which is hidden in the root of the kernel of everything."
Mr ul Haq was 3 when he came to Britain and 13 when he became a student at the first and most influential of Britain’s Deobandi seminaries, which opened in 1975 in a converted sanatorium in the rural hills above Bury, Greater Manchester.
?

Does article 301 apply for Erdoğan ?
In an article published by Hürriyet, Bekir Coşkun essentially proclaimed that he would not recognize Abdullah Gül his president.
Obviously filled with deep indignation, in a "direct" response - via TV - (future Ex-) Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan (RTE) said: "If he is not your president, then renounce your citizenship of this country."
As one of the politest blogger on this planet one might only say: Sic tacuisses . . .
However, can anybody imagine RTE being a philosopher?
Rather there will be a prosecutor putting his eminent magnificence on trial under article 301 for insulting the Turkishness of 53,41 per cent of all Turkish voters who did not vote for his (sic!) party.
Impossible? Cave Cihan, would-be padişah! Not in Turkey.
Thus, let's wait and . . . meanwhile read comments penned by two most respectable Turkish columnists: Yusuf Kanli and Murat Yetkin.
