Happy birthday, Mr Putin ...

... one does not have to wish, hm?
Surely the gentleman enjoys a most happy day with all his dear friends, and everyone will have done his best to make the flawless democrat happy.
I wonder which one was the most special present today.

Three years ago, October 7th, 2006 some admirers intended to surprise (?) their beloved President with a very very special present - and assassinated Anna Politkovskaya.
Well, and here's a List of murdered Russian journalists.

  1. The journalist who "had the most dangerous job in the world" has become a symbol. Then Natalya Estemirova tried to continue Anna Politkovskaya work in reporting human right abuses in Chechnya. She was kidnapped in Grozny, and found dead on July 15, 2009.

Somehow I'm sure that some Russian journalists are still reporting Mr Putin's unclean activities. But presently there's nobody in Chechnya keeping an eye on Kadyrov.

Why should there be? Russia has declared Chechnya pacified. The dirty war is over. All Chechen people are happy. All the past is forgotten and buried. Justice is accomplished.

Of course, the USA Secretary of State has dutifully, vocally complained that Anna's murderer hasn't been found yet. (?) But she's going to Russia soon, and will shake hand with Putin. Instead of spitting in his face.

Which is why I could never officially represent a democratic government and deal with so-called other (hypocritical) democratic countries.

I don't know how to link you with the articles I read, Sean. But all I've written is offered through Google to anyone who wants to read the truth about Putin, Kadyrov and heroic journalism.

  2. Hmm I wonder what nice gift he'll get this year...Perhaps a nice libel settlement for Kadyrov and Stalin's grandson

  3. Sean - Was looking in your archives for, and finally found your very effective post on Natalya Estemirova: Who will be the next? July 17-2009. Thank you again for expressing your anger, and for reminding us of those courageous people.

  4. Claudia,
Thanks. Imagine my anger being as effective as a cucumber-glass detonating in Caracas.
As for sources. There are many, and I have been following quite a few of them for decades.
As I do not wish this blog to become focused on but one topic, but still wish to attract visitors' (permanent) interest for this global problem, I set a link to Reporters with Borders (also available in French), where one can on a daily, sometimes even an hourly basis refresh one's anger.

    Jams,
two Schillings would certainly do it.

  5. Thank you for the link to Reporters Sans Frontières. It will make it so much easier to learn the latest news in every country than googling au hasard. Anger might not be effective, but it's certainly preferable to ignorance and indifferance.

    I deeply appreciate your posts.
