He wrote quasi una fantasia... to play pianissimo... A quiescent movement, creating the right atmosphere to bring a moment of peace to the troubled heart of a world always in turmoil.
A lovely treat, thank you Sean. Beethoven was capable of brilliant melody, but he also knew when to throw out the rule book. I love the third movement of this sonata too, though it's almost certainly forever beyond my ability to play.
